Protecting Water Supplies
Water is an important part of life. It is important not only for health but also for the economy of our country. It is the base of the American Empire. If our water supply is contaminated or attacked then our health and economy will be mortally damaged. Many of our water systems have been around for over 100 years already. Therefore, many of our systems are in need of repair, replacing, or upgrade. Some aqueducts that are hundreds of miles long can be difficult to protect from an attack. Twelve million dollars have been requested to solve our water problems. However fifty-million dollars will be needed to completely solve these problems (Luthy).
International Impact
I think that addressing this problem can help lead to peace between world leaders. If most of Earth's water is contaminated or ruined, then a major war could break out for the rest of Earth's water. Albert Einstein once said,"I know not with what weapons World War III will be fought, but World War IV will be fought with sticks and stones." If World War 3 were to break out, then Albert Einstein's quote will come true. A war over water would be an idiotic reason for war.
